About Us

Drogheda Tidy Towns was set up by local volunteers in 2007 to make Drogheda a better place to live, work, and visit. From the very beginning, our aim has been to create a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming town, encouraging pride in our community and working together to protect and enhance Drogheda for everyone.

In 2022, Drogheda Tidy Towns set out on an ambitious journey to create something truly special for our community. That year, we formed a dedicated subgroup to drive this vision forward.

Drogheda Tidy Towns remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the Boyne River in any way possible, such as the Annual Boyne Clean-Up, undertook a biodiversity study of the Boyne Estuary, from which we produced a book and erected interpretative signage.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday evening for our Litter Pick & Tidy Up around Drogheda Town Centre, Dominic Street, West Street, and the connecting streets. It was wonderful to see familiar faces and some new ones also and especially the children getting stuck in! 👏 Alongside litter picking, plenty of work was done removing weeds. We're planning another community clean-up in Drogheda next Wednesday August 19th at 7pm. Our focus will be on the Windmill Road , Bothar Brugha and the area around the hospital, O Reilly Terrace etc . Love if you join us . Meet outside gates of St Brigid's & St. Patrick’s N.S. , Bothar Brugha for 7pm.#Drogheda #TidyTowns #CommunitySpirit #LitterPick #KeepDroghedaTidy ... See MoreSee Less

🌿 Enhancing The Wanderer Sculpture, St Dominic’s BridgeThe new planting at The Wanderer Sculpture marks another small but meaningful step in Drogheda Tidy Towns’ ongoing improvement work. The new planting creates a natural frame for this piece, improving the riverside bank environment and also adding biodiversity to the area. The modern Corten steel artwork itself, installed in 2015, shifts in form as you move around it, Boann, the godess of the Boyne from one angle, a bird in flight from another. The planting includes evergreens ornamental grasses and colourful herbaceous plants chosen to provide year-round texture and seasonal interest. And yes, the overflowing bin that once distracted from the sculpture has thankfully been relocated, allowing the artwork and its new setting to stand uninterupted. All these actions together will help feature The Wanderer as it should be, a cultural landmark better integrated into its environment. Many thanks to David Cunningham and the LCC crew for their support with the planting work and to the funding we received through the LCC Tidy Towns Grant that made this work possible.#drogheda #LouthCountyCouncil #biodiversity #droghedatidytowns #Thewanderersculpture ... 🦇 A Fantastic Evening learning about Bats! 🌿What a nice evening we had at our Guided Bat Walk on Thursday. We were delighted by the huge turnout. It was wonderful to see such strong community interest in our local wildlife.A huge thank you to Peter Phillips, Conor D’Arcy, Sinéad Hanlon, Dahlia Agüero and Gerard Murray of the Louth Bat Group for delivering such an informative and enjoyable walk. While we didn’t see as many bats as we had hoped, the evening was a great opportunity to learn about these fascinating creatures, their habitats and the important role they play in our local ecosystem. 🦇The event formed part of the biodiversity being delivered by Drogheda Tidy Towns, with grant support from Community Foundation Ireland and the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). The project is helping us put our local Biodiversity Action Plan into action through a range of community-focused activities, including biodiversity education .A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the Louth Bat Group for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with us. 💚🌿🦇#DroghedaTidyTowns #BatWalk #LouthBatGroup #Biodiversity #Drogheda #TheDale #biodiversity #CommunityFoundationIreland #NPWS ...
