Drogheda Tidy Towns have launched our Tidy Towns 5 year Plan.

After months of hard work and collaboration, Drogheda Tidy Towns have launched our Tidy Towns 5 year Plan.

The principal objective of the new Five Year Plan for Drogheda Tidy Towns will be to identify a range of projects and initiatives under each of the National Tidy Towns adjudication categories which, when implemented, will result in Drogheda winning its population category and being regional winner, within the lifetime of the plan.

We really want to hear from the Drogheda community on their thoughts and recommendations and how we can deliver the 5-year plan together.

You can download the Drogheda Tidy Towns 5 Year Plan by visiting the Drogheda Tidy Towns website.

Drogheda Volunteers Are On A Roll!

Take a look at our Drogheda Tidy Towns Adopt An Area Map! Our Volunteers are rocking it!

We are currently adding new adopted areas on a daily basis and identifying new areas to adopt all over the town.

Adopt An Area Map Jan 2022

Thank you to all in the community who are reaching out and adopting an area, volunteering, and helping fight back against illegal dumping and littering.

Green = Adopted

Red = To be Adopted

It is also so important to mention the great people in Drogheda who are quietly out doing clean-ups across the town for years now and have yet to be added to the map!

You know who you are!

If you would like to adopt an area, or already have an area adopted, please connect with us on social media or submit our form here!

AND FINALLY!

Come volunteer with us as it is great Craic!

Poorhouse Lane Drogheda Is Not A Bin!

A little lunch cleanup today by one of our Adopt An Area volunteers and committee members turned out to be more than a little lunchtime cleanup.

5 bags of litter were collected with 3 of these bags being someone’s household waste. It was clear that someone has been illegally dumping here for a while which has become more visible over the winter months. Don’t get me wrong they also dumped their rubish from last week as I found a Leap Card receipt in one of the bags.

We took some before and after pictures:

If you notice illegal dumping, you can report it to the local authority, which can then investigate and take action. Alternatively, you can report it to the 24-hour National Environmental Complaints Line – see ‘Further information’ below. The complaints line will pass your report to the local authority, the Garda Síochána or the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as appropriate. The EPA website provides more information on how to make an environmental complaint.

We are always on the lookout for new volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved with Drogheda Tidy Towns, please register your interest here.

A picture speaks a thousand words!

A picture speaks a thousand words, well here are two pictures that show where rubbish ends up.

Last Sunday out with a group of volunteers as always doing their bit for the town and environment, we did along the river. The place was destroyed with fast food wrappers and drinks cans and bottles. This material had mostly been chucked over the railings beside the river and then had blown down onto the river. This ends up in the river and then out in the sea. Most of it will lead to microplastics in the water we will all then drink.

The stupidity is no excuse for people who do this. Report illegal dumping.

Forest Park Residents Keeping On Top of Litter….

A few residents from Forest Park came together during Covid and started cleaning up all the litter around Flaxmill lane into Forest Park Estate.

They were out again this weekend and shared photos with Drogheda Tidy Towns of the work they are doing. They adopted this area themselves and take a lot of pride in Forest Park and Drogheda.

Drogheda Tidy Towns is on a mission to fight back against littering, and illegal dumping and It is just great to see the Residents of Forest Park taking action and sharing with us the positive work they are doing, and helping fight back

First Drogheda Tidy Towns Cleanup of 2022

Well done to all the volunteers who came out on Sunday for the first Drogheda Tidy Cleanup of 2022.

Areas covered:

Huge effort on the Ramparts, Rathmullan Road, Dominics Park, and Skateboard Park and around St Dominics Bridge.

Massive issue with materials from McDonald’s being dumped on the banks of the river which is also ending up in the River Boyne, which ultimately gets washed out to sea.

Adopt An Area Sunnyside Cottages Footpath

Another 5 bags of litter were collected along Sunnyside Cottages Footpath Sunday gone by two of our volunteers, Dominick and Dave, who have Adopted An Area ( Sunnyside Cottages Footpath). That’s 11 bags of litter collected along this pathway over the last 4 weeks. A lot of beer cans and bottles along the side bank but they are getting close to having it completely cleared up and litter-free! They have also started clearing the area of falling branches so they can start to work on the next phase of the plan

“The best part about today was an elderly gentleman stopped to thank us as the Sunnyside Pathway is his and his dog’s favorite walk towards and back to the graveyard. This motivates us, even more, to make this wonderful area even better for people like him!” Dominick
